Everyone’s Working On Social Web Apps
It looks like Wikia is adding social tools to its wiki platform. The problem seems like there are too many logins and platforms for social web tools now. There’s Facebook Connect, Google FriendConnect, MySpace’s thing, LinkedIn, etc, etc…. all competing for the same users with different platforms and technological barriers. I wonder when an OpenID-like system will just “work” so that users won’t have to remember a gazillion passwords or privacy settings. I guess the problem is figuring out “real” users — which could be solved by GPS, mobile location and some biopattern recognition or biometric authentication… but I don’t see that happening too soon.
