Neat Web Tool — Zoetrope
I’ve always wanted a web tool like this: Zoetrope — which basically captures changes to web pages so that users can look back to previous versions of a web page and track changes. When I first heard about the Internet Archive, I thought it would be really cool if the Internet was stored in a distributed way on volunteers’ home computers — so instead of donating idle processor time, people might donate empty hard drive space (perhaps in exchange for software that would help organize/compress/index your digital storage).
Then really dynamic web pages might be captured (in a few places on volunteer storage) by people who were interested in tracking those pages (volunteers would choose which pages they’d want to be stored and tracked on their computers)… But that might still be an immense amount of storage.
