Medical Oddities
Apparently, a Japanese man demonstrated that human hibernation is possible when he accidently tripped and lost consciousness while climbing Mount Rokko. In 2006, Mitsutaka Uchikoshi survived for 24 days without food or water in the cold weather, presumably in an actual state of suspended animation. If only doctors could figure out how it happened, sick people could survive in hibernation until cures or organs are available.
On the other side of the specturm, another asian guy seems to have gone about three decades without sleep in Vietnam. Thai Ngoc hasn’t needed to sleep at all, after he recovered from a severe fever in 1973. But this sounds like a hoax… because they guy doesn’t seem to “like tests” — so it doesn’t look like anyone has done an MRI on him. So this could be like those reports of people who can meditate without food/water/sleeping for extraordinary lengths of time.
